Willow Sweet 12/22/2010

This fall I have been many times blessed in creating special projects for friends and family.  Regrettably, I didn't catch a photo of a series of tote-bags created from childhood crib linens, but this week I wasn't about to miss out on featuring another heirloom project.

I received a call just a few weeks ago from a friend of a friend who lost her father this year.  One of his crowning characteristics was his love of picking Pussy willow and Bittersweet.  She had found some fabric and was anxious to have a quilt from it.  Literally a one-of-a-kind piece, I drew this pattern on a piece of freezer paper, ironed it to a stack of fabrics and cut along the lines...the pattern, although a simple geometric will never be repeated in these proportions.

This time of year, with complete "Etsy Flurry", projects like these make it all worth while.  Merry Christmas to all those who have loved, lost, and have "honor gifts" to give this season.

The Willow Sweet quilt is absolutely beautiful. I know that my Uncle, whose memory it was made for, would be so touched.
You are very talented!
Sorry, I posted the wrong comment on the Christmas pageant, which, by the way, was lovely. How fun for the kids, and yes, I too am glad they are still doing them.

Good things happen to those that wait...
We were married this last February, 2010. That in itself was quite the wait. This past summer my family held an 'event' celebrating our marriage. The main sponsors were my five and three year old nieces. My sisters did a fabulous job preparing and decorating and sister #2 cooked one of her best meals ever. They just weren't inspired in regards to a wedding gift. Now fast forward to Christmas Eve....Mike and I received a BEAUTIFUL quilt. This Wedding Quilt is the perfect gift in so many ways. We just love how everything ties together so perfectly. What a talent you have!
So...good things happen to those that wait.
