In the spirit of holiday preparation, I have decided to host a GIVEAWAY!

Since the holidays are about doing for others, here's one just for you!

I am interested in what you will be shopping for / making this year. What is the ONE gift you will be giving where you are proud of it's...creativity, ingenuity, or thoughtfulness?  Maybe it's for a friend, your dad, or your kids.

To enter the GIVEAWAY, simply reply to this post with your favorite gift ideas for 2009.  The contest will run through this weekend, Sunday (11) at midnight.

If you are chosen (by random drawing) as the winner, it will be announced on my blog on Monday.  You will be winning a ZIPPY WALLET and GIFT CERTIFICATE to my shop!!

HI!
I always take lots of pictures, especially of babies/kids. Most of the time the parents don't even realize I'm taking them. So this year I'm picking a favorite of each of my cousin's kids and framing them with inexpensive frames I've picked up at Thrift Stores or on clearance. Cheap & easy! :))

Howdy!
My grandfather passed away a couple months ago. This first Christmas without him will be challenging for my family, but I've found a way to incorporate him into the holiday. I'm taking a few of his favorite shirts, and I'm embroidering some of his last, sweet words onto the fabric. I plan on framing the pieces once I'm finished.

This year I'm in college and living in an apartment, so I have no money. I thought and thought about holiday gifts. With my love of cooking I have decided to make my own Vanilla to give as gifts this year. It's something everyone uses at some point and something that's extra special.

After looking through all kinds of toy and kid magazines/websites, I wanted to give my niece something personal that she would hold onto for a long time. So, I found an old step stool and I am going to refinish it, carve her name on the top, and underneath adhere this quote....

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”

Hopefully, as she gets older it will remind her how much her Aunt believes in her, and as an added bonus will help her as she begins to be become more independent.

My one goal this year for the holidays is for the majority of my gifts that I give to be handmade items, either from myself or bought from others...so far I have bought handmade dishcloths for my mother in law, and for my son I have made a huge collection of fabric fruits and vegetables just like the ones I had when I was little...just with modern funky fabric! I also made my son a teddy bear, and five bean bags, I also purchased an item from etsy...handmade Super Why characters for my little boy, his favorite show. Now I just have to figure out what I will be getting for the rest of the family...

oops, I commented on the wrong post! lol

So I hope the recipient doesn't read this, so I'll take a chance. :) I learned to knit socks and made a set of pedicure socks! They are socks that have no toes so you can put them on with your flip flops so those of us in colder climates can keep our feet warmer when we have our flip flops on after our pedi. :) Thanks!
